Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The 36-year-old was part of a serious road collision in the Lagos area on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.

Healing from Light Wounds

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. The official further stated that the champion was filled with sorrow and deeply emotional over the loss of his two close friends.”
