Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains The Club's Backing After PSV Loss

The Liverpool head coach admitted that it was expected for concerns to be asked about his position following a further heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a tough night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I've received a lot of backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me constantly of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular exchanges I feel the belief. But I've not talked to them after this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically missed opportunities and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to think about it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase of this nature with outcomes this poor.”

He stated, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, prove once more what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“At this moment, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
