The distinguished British actress Helen Mirren, already winner of an Oscar, several BAFTA honors, Golden Globe wins, five Emmys, and a Tony, is set to add another esteemed prize to her trophy case: the Cecil B. DeMille Golden Globe career honor.

Honors Presentation

Dame Helen, octogenarian, formerly given a damehood in 2003 and made a Bafta fellow back in 2014, will accept the accolade during a presentation on the eighth of January, shortly before the main Golden Globes occur, as part of an event billed by the Globes as the Golden Eve event.

This will also include the awarding of the organization’s Carol Burnett award for television achievement, the honoree for which remains unannounced. Previous recipients featured Viola Davis and Ted Danson.

“Mirren stands as a powerhouse performer, and her professional journey is nothing short of extraordinary,” stated Helen Hoehne, the Globes’ leader. “Her captivating roles and commitment to her craft persistently influence numerous actors and fans too. We are deeply honored to present her with this lifetime achievement honor.”

Notable Roles

The star became well-known in the 1970s with key roles on stage in London’s theater district and through the Royal Shakespeare Company and in cinematic works such as O Lucky Man!, Caligula & The Long Good Friday.

In the 1990s, her starring role in the investigative show Prime Suspect expanded her audience further. Additional notable movies include Excalibur, The Madness of King George, The Cook, the Thief, His Wife and Her Lover, Gosford Park & Calendar Girls.

She received an Oscar for her role as Elizabeth II in 2006 film The Queen, a part she returned to in 2013 in The Audience, the theatrical work from Peter Morgan concerning the sessions with the Queen and premier Thatcher, a performance for which she earned a Tony in 2015.

• Later-career movies include Hitchcock, The Last Station, Woman in Gold, The Debt, Golda and Barbie, where she served as narrator.
• Mirren’s turn in the Netflix version for The Thursday Murder Club has received positive reviews with award talk is building about her portrayal as a terminally ill matriarch in Kate Winslet’s directorial debut, Goodbye June.
• Upcoming, she will appear portraying Patricia Highsmith in Corbijn’s dramatic film, Switzerland.

Globes nominations are set to be revealed December 8, featuring the film by Paul Thomas Anderson One Battle After Another, the movie from Chloé Zhao Hamnet along with Ryan Coogler’s Sinners anticipated to be prominent.
