Individual Who Approached Ariana Grande on the occasion of Movie Premiere Barred from Singapore
An individual of Australian nationality who jumped past a barrier and grabbed actress Ariana Grande has been deported and banned from Singapore.
The individual, aged 26, was handed a penalty to nine days in detention for disrupting public order and has now been "banned from entering the country again," Singaporean immigration authorities stated to Singaporean press.
The man shoved past photographers and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was present at the Asian debut for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Co-star Cynthia Erivo wrestled him away from Grande.
The individual has a record of causing disturbances at events and star-studded occasions, including leaping onto the platform at a Katy Perry performance in Sydney in June this year.
The incident provoked strong reactions in Singapore, with several individuals accusing him of re-traumatising Grande.
The celebrity has mentioned dealing with trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist bombing at her show in the UK city in May 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 people and affected hundreds.
During Wen's trial, the judge was informed he had attempted to intrude on the movie's debut twice, according to regional reports.
He then made a another effort to breach security. Security staff intercepted him and restrained him.
Wen later posted videos appreciating the celebrity for letting him on the carpet and said he was "released."
Police took him into custody the next day and accused him with disorderly conduct, to which the man admitted guilt.
The Court Judge the judicial official was referenced by Channel News Asia as saying that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was incorrect to think he would not suffer any consequences.
The singer has not spoken about the incident.
The co-star mentioned the situation to NBC, saying that she "simply desired to make sure my co-star was safe."
"I believe he had no intention to us harm, but you can't predict with such situations, and I aimed to ensure that she was OK. That was my immediate response," she commented.
