Liverpool Will Not Change Attacking Style Despite Recent Slump, Says Arne Slot

Arne Slot has stated that the club's hierarchy agree with his assessment regarding the team's slump and he has no intention of discarding their forward-thinking philosophy in pursuit of a solution. The head coach admitted that six defeats in seven games was unacceptable ahead of the weekend fixture with Villa.

Growing Expectations Amid Tough Spell

The manager acknowledged the scrutiny was intense before his makeshift team were eliminated from the Carabao Cup against the London club. However, he insisted that this urgency to stop the losing streak is not coming from the Anfield hierarchy or executive leadership following a significant spending of almost £450m.

"Our views align," stated Slot, whose side will meet Real Madrid in the Champions League and play against the Citizens in the Premier League.

Player Depth Stays Unchallenged

Liverpool's manager thinks his team "possess an exceptional group if they are completely available and all ready for the schedule ahead". He said that the recent signings in footballers like Florian Wirtz and Alexander Isak, who is probably unavailable again against Aston Villa through physical problems, had left the club "in a strong situation for the near future and the long-term future".

Integration Challenges

When questioned about why his team were having difficulty blending, he answered: "You don't really help me. 'What are the reasons?' I give an explanation and people say I'm making justifications. I can list several explanations why we are struggling for victories or experiencing losses as we do but, as I always emphasize, there are insufficient justifications to have a run of form as we had now."

  • No matter if I could identify multiple factors
  • As Liverpool manager you cannot lose
  • The reality is six losses from seven matches

Backline Performance

Only Burnley (21) have faced more big chances from open play this season than Slot's team (nineteen). The first-place team, the Gunners, have conceded only two. Yet Liverpool's coach rejects the champions have been too open and maintains there is no basis to compromise forward-thinking approach for a more pragmatic style after ten matches without a shutout.

"I don't see us allowing many opportunities so I don't see a reason to alter our approach totally but we have to enhance in preventing goals," he declared.

Recent Examples

"Against Manchester United, how many opportunities did we allow? When playing Frankfurt when we were 3-1 up, we scarcely gave up a effort at our net. In all the games we played until now we haven't conceded a many opportunities. Not at all. We do concede a somewhat more than the prior term but that has to do with us being 1-0 down so you become more adventurous. But typically I don't think that our problem is that we allow too many opportunities. Our challenge is we don't score the chances we create."
