Thrice-crowned MVP Jokic sustains a 'devastating' leg setback.

Jokic secured the league's MVP title in 2021, 2022, and 2024.

Three-time National Basketball Association MVP Jokic suffered a "devastating" injury to his knee as the Nuggets lost 147-123 against the Heat.

The Serbian center injured himself in the latter stages of the opening half during an unintentional coming together with team-mate Spencer Jones.

Jones landed on the footwear of Jokic, who immediately collapsed to the court grabbing his knee.

The veteran player, who tops the NBA season in rebounds and assists, had a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the matchup before suffering the problem.

Jokic is scheduled for an scan on the following day to determine the extent of the problem.

"Instantly, he understood he was hurt," said Nuggets head coach Adelman.

"Injuries are part of the game. Whoever who suffers an injury, that's tough to see, most notably somebody as special as him. We will know more tomorrow."

"We will continue as a team. Obviously, currently, I am more concerned primarily about him as a person and the disappointment of facing something of that nature."
