Trump Invites Families of Shot National Guard Soldiers to White House

Former President Trump revealed on the weekend that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to visit the executive mansion.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “heartbroken”.

Information on the Tragic Incident

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was fatally shot in a attack on last Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have been held in their honor.

White House Offer

The commander-in-chief explained he’s discussed a White House visit for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to Sarah,” Trump told journalists. “And in the same way with Andrew, recover or not.”

Community Response

Community members came together over the weekend at the high school in the state to pay respects to Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s federal initiative to support law enforcement in DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that instructors wished for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that lifted those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of her previous school, stated to the press. “She was caring, caring and always ready to help others.”

Funeral details for Beckstrom are in the process of planning.

Judicial Actions and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and charges of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The incident led the administration to halt asylum processing and temporarily stop providing visas to owners of passports from Afghanistan.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of Martinsburg, began his service in 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

The state’s top lawyer Pam Bondi told Fox News Sunday that she also intended to visit Wolfe’s family.

Impact of Sarah Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and enlisted soon after, working as a law enforcement officer with distinction, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” the governor informed the audience at the service. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to be remembered always.”
